JERRY KUBLY
December 17, 2009

A celebration of Jerry Kubly's life was held on January 30th at the Mustard Seed. There was a fantastic turn out of friends, family, and co workers that celebrated his wonderful life. Since he had passed away a week before Christmas, the family decided to hold a silent auction for his gifts. All the proceeds went to the Donald Driver Foundation. All but one gift was taken! There is also an online memorial set up for Jerry with his biography, photos, and guest book for sharing your thoughts should you wish! It can be accessed by clicking here! Jerry was a great guy and was always at the Mustard Seed. He was even there Sunday, the day before he was stricken! His absence from game days will be noticed. We will all miss you big guy and hope you are at rest now! So long good friend!

A DRUMMER AMONG US

Check out Brad Tessen banging on his kit at the The Showbox Sodo Lounge during a recent gig. Brad has been playing a long time and is quite good! He plays with a band called Somar (pronounced summer). They play at local venues in the Puget Sound area and are in the studio working their debut CD due out in January 2010! Check out their website here and if you see them playing near you, go check them out and watch our Brad wail on his drums!!

NWPB GEAR

The 2009 NWPB T-Shirts are here and they look great! They are available for purchase for $15 (sizes are small, medium, large, and 2X). Club patches are available for $10 each, license plate frames and window clings are also available at $3 each or 2 for $5. See the head table for all of these items!

RESERVED SEATING

The Club wants to make certain that we can accommodate as many Packer Fans as possible. Last season, many fans new and old were left standing or simply left because they could not find a seat. It is understood that you would like to sit with your guests especially if you are with a large group, but please have them arrive by game time. Once it is kick off, reserving tables/booths will not be permitted afterward. It is frustrating for those who are standing to see empty seats that are being held for people who sometimes do not show up until after half time. You might be asked to share your booth or table. We understand circumstances arise and we will be flexible to a certain extent but also ask for your flexibility and cooperation in helping provide a great game experience for all who show up on time!

THE PACKER SHRINE

Click me to see a bigger picture!

When stopping by the main table, visit our "Packer Shrine" and give the helmet a slight rub for good luck! The shrine was created by Brad Tessen!!! Very unique and interesting there Brad!!!!! I am sure we'll be seeing some new things popping up down the road around the shine!

KIDS TABLE

It is great that the kids can come along with Mom and Dad to watch the Packers play. Now if the kids get a little antsy, they can head over to the kids table that Galen Richards has set up and keep occupied while the game is on. There will be coloring, origami, board games, puzzles, and more. Check out the table in the far corner by the windows to see what Galen has set up for the kiddies each week!!!

A GOOD LOOKING BUNCH!

WEEKLY RAFFLE

Keep buying those raffles tickets each week as they help fund the Club's ability to purchase prizes and helps us support our charity. The tickets are, as always, just $1 each. The drawing for prizes will be held at the end of the third quarter. Approximately one third of the items available for prizes. If you are out and about and see great Packer merchandise on sale, buy it and bring it in to the Club for the raffle. You will be reimbursed with receipt of purchase. Just be smart in your shopping please!

The 2009 season, the Club made two donations to two separate charities, a $500 donation went to Food Lifeline , and $1500 went to the Christmas House. Food Lifeline is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending hunger in Western Washington. Food Lifeline makes every penny count. 93% of the food they receive from local, state and national contributors is donated, allowing them to provide nine dollars worth of food to hungry people for every donated dollar. The Christmas House provides children in need gifts and clothing during the holiday season. Last year, they served 10,000 needy children and will do so again this holiday season. The Club has donated over $10,000 in the past to Christmas House and we were glad to help them again! Thanks again to all who are generous in these endeavors! We are always looking for Member input and suggestions on other organizations to help out. Let the Club know your thoughts!

This years Trip Raffle prize is airfare, hotel, and a package for a Packers regular season game in 2010 ($1500 maximum value). The winner get the game of their choice. Runner up prizes will be valued at $200, $100, and $50 respectfully. Winners will be drawn after the last game of the season on Sunday, January 3rd and need not be present to win. Click the pictures below for a larger version and check out the offerings on a typical game day!!

SOME PACKER HUMOR

Ole and Sven Go To Hell.......

Ole and Sven die in a snowmobiling  accident, drunker than skunks, and  go to  Hell.
The Devil observes that they are really  enjoying themselves. He says to them 'Doesn't the heat and smoke  bother you?
Ole replies, 'Vell, ya know, ve're from  nordern Minnesooota, da land  of snow  an ice, an  ve're yust happy fer a chance ta varm up a little  bit, ya  know.'
The devil decides that these two aren't  miserable enough and turns up  the  heat even  more. When he returns to the room of the two guys  from   Minnesota ,  the devil finds them in light  jackets and hats, grilling Walleye and  drinking  beer.
The devil is astonished and exclaims,  'Everyone down here is in abject  misery, and you two seem  to be enjoying yourselves?'
Sven replies, 'Vell, ya know, ve don't git  too much varm veather up  dere at  da Falls, so  ve've yust got ta haff a fish fry vhen da  veather's dis  nice.'
The devil is absolutely furious. He can  hardly see straight. Finally  he  comes up  with the answer.  The two guys love the heat because they have  been cold all their  lives. The  devil decides to  turn all the heat off in Hell. The next morning,  the  temperature is 60 below zero, icicles are hanging  everywhere, and  people are  shivering so bad that  they are unable to wail, moan or gnash their teeth.
The devil smiles and heads for the room  with Ole and Sven. He gets  there and  finds them  back in their parkas, bomber hats, and mittens. They  are  jumping up and down, cheering, yelling and screaming  like mad men.
The devil is dumbfounded, 'I don't  understand, when I turn up the heat  you're happy. Now its  freezing cold and you're still happy.  What is  wrong   with you  two?'
They both look at the devil in surprise and  say, 'Vell, don't ya know,  if  hell iss froze  over, dat must mean da Vikings von da Super  Bowl '

The Cheeshead Prayer

Now I lay me down to bed, A wedge of cheese upon my head. Allegiance to the Packers I promise to keep, and cheer them on while I'm asleep. If I should die, don't let me wonder, Just bury me 'neath, the frozen tundra. But, Lord, before you take my soul, Let me see the Pack in one more Super bowl. Forgive me Lord, for those I've hated, The Lions and Vikings, they're overrated. The streets of heaven, so I've been told, Are paved for us in green and gold. If I get to heaven I'll have but one wish, A big screen TV with a satellite dish. I pray for this Lord, for only one reason, To cheer on my Pack to a winning season. I'll close this prayer by thanking you Lord, For listening to me and the time you afford. But one more thing........please remember da Bears, Because that's a team that hasn't a prayer!! Amen.

God's Country

John Madden was in Dallas to announce a football game one weekend when
he noticed a special telephone near the Cowboys' bench. He asked
QB Tony Romo what it was used for and was told it was a hotline to God.
John asked if he could use it. Tony replied, 'Sure, but it will cost you $200.
John scratched his head, then thought, what the heck, I could use some
help picking games. He pulled out his wallet and paid $200. John's picks
were perfect that week.

The next week, John was in Indianapolis when he noticed that same kind
of phone on the Colts bench. He asked what the telephone was for and
Manning told him, 'It's a hotline to God if you want to use it, it will
cost you $500.' Recalling the previous week, John pulled out his wallet and
made the call. John's picks were perfect again that week.

Last weekend, John was in Green Bay , when he noticed the same kind
of telephone by the Packers' bench. He asked Brett Favre 'Is that the
hotline to God?' Brett said, 'Yes, and if you want to use it, it will
cost  you 50 cents.' John looked incredulously at Brett and said, 'Wait a
second, I just paid $200 in Dallas and $500 in Indianapolis to use the
same phone to God! Why do the Packers only charge 50 cents?
Brett replied, 'Because in Wisconsin, it's a local call...

Welcome to God's Country.'. . . . . . ..
